How Many Beers Are in a Keg?

There are quite a few different sizes of kegs on the market.  Below are a list of the keg dimensions, along with how many ounces fit into each keg, and how many 12oz. beers that equates to. Also keep in mind that there are different type of kegs closed style / sanke kegs and cornelieus/corny kegs that are commonly used by homebrewers.

How heavy is a keg of beer in pounds (lbs)?

Another common question we get asked is "how heavy is a keg of beer in lbs". The list below will give you a rough reference of the weight of each keg size when full.

• Cornelius Keg (Full): 50 lbs / 22.5 kg
• Sixth Barrel Keg (Full): 55 lbs / 25 kg
• Quarter Barrel Keg (Full): 80 lbs / 36 kg
• Slim Quarter Keg (Full): 80 lbs / 36 kg
• Half Barrel Keg (Full): 160 lbs / 72.5 kg

How much does a keg of beer cost?

At Keg Outlet, we sell equipment and not full kegs, but generally speaking, full kegs of beer will range in price based on the type and brand of beer that you're purchasing. If you're looking for a full size keg (how much does a 16 gallon keg of beer cost), you can expect to pay anywhere from $150-250 for a half bbl keg.
